Irregular Solutions

veil Baseboard covers are designed to fit over most hydronic baseboard heaters and electric baseboard heaters. By using our compatibility guide you can easily determine fit based on height and depth of your existing covers. In the rare case that your covers don’t ‘line up’ to the parameters shown in the guide, we have solutions for you.

Height

Our standard covers (Atlas , Demi and Titan) are 6 ¾”  height. When installed they should stand at least 7 ½ ” off the floor to insure adequate airflow. This allows for a minimum clearance of ¾” between the floor and the bottom of the cover. This is necessary for adequate airflow and the proper operation of either your gas boiler hydronic baseboard covers heating system or your electric baseboard covers. Ideally, we would like to see clearance of ¾”-1 ¼” between the floor and the bottom of the cover in order to maximize efficiency of your heating system.

Current Covers less then 7 ½”  height

If your current covers measure less, then 7 ½” from the floor to the top of the cover then you will need to utilize our mounting brackets to hang your covers. By installing wall brackets at regular intervals you can provide support to hang your covers as well as select the exact height that allows for maximum clearance between the bottom of the cover and the floor.

Current Covers more then 9 ¾”  height

If your current covers measure 9 ¾” or higher from the floor to the top of the cover then you will need to use Atlas XL panels and accessories. Atlas XL measures 9”  height and is used in situations where the overall height from floor to the top of the covers exceeds 9 ¾”. If a standard height cover (Atlas or Titan) were used it would not fully cover the heating element and the functionality of the system would be compromised.

When using Atlas XL, you will want to have a minimum clearance of ¾” between the floor and the bottom of the cover. As per above, this is necessary for adequate airflow and the proper operation of either your gas boiler hydronic baseboard covers heating system, or your electric baseboard covers. Ideally, we would like to see clearance of ¾”-1 ¼” between the floor and the bottom of the cover in order to maximize efficiency of your heating system. Contact us directly if you require panels that are greater then 9” height.

Depth

All of our panels (Atlas, Titan & Atlas XL and Demi) are 3” depth. This measurement corresponds to the vast majority of hot water baseboard covers and electric baseboard covers found in residential homes across USA and Canada.

However, in commercial installations there are examples of 4”, 4.5” & 5” depths. At times, commercial baseboard covers were installed in homes or commercial properties were converted to residential and these heating systems are still in use. Finding replacement covers can be difficult due to the larger depths. There is an easy solution that utilizes our Atlas, Titan or Atlas XL and Demipanels and allows you to build out your covers.

To increase your depth by 1”, you simply take a piece of 1”x1” wood strapping (found at your local building supply store) that is cut to the appropriate length and screw it horizontally above your current cover.

Then install a piece of 1”x1” strapping vertically at either end of your cover.

Attach our wall brackets on the leading edge of the horizontal length and hang our panel. To finish the project, simply paint the wood to match the wall or your new covers. For greater depths, just select a larger dimension of wood strapping (1”x2”, 1”x3” etc.)

You can either do the steps above the current back plate, which might make using Atlas XL a necessity because of the height increase.

Or, you can remove the back plate first, and start the process in the place where the backplate used to be ( no height increase. )

You can download our adjusting for depth instructions.

If you have a commercial project with depths that are greater then 3”, please contact us for custom depth options.

Length

Atlas, Titan and Atlas XL and Demi are offered in lengths of 2ft, 3ft, 4ft, 5ft, 6ft, 7ft and 8ft. Each of these lengths can be custom cut to your desired length at no extra charge.

If you have a length longer then 8ft, simply join 2 or more panels together by using couplers to hide the seams. You can create any length you need.

In addition, you can also use custom cuts when combining panels to get a wall to wall custom look without paying a custom price. If you need assistance in determining the best combination of panels, just reach out to us and we will be more then pleased to help. If you have a larger project (school, campground, hospital or multi-unit buildingwe can design solutions that work for you.
